Sync makes it easy to bulk upload data using import templates in CSV or Excel format. This feature is available across a wide range of modules, making large-scale data entry efficient and consistent.
Supported Modules
You can import data into the following areas of Sync:
Job Products
Colours
Customers and Sub-Customers
Cost Sub Types
Product Types
Sales Orders
Product Purchase Orders
Vendors
CMT Operations
Users
Size Templates
CMT Templates
Simply look for the Import button, usually found at the top right of each module's screen.
Templates Overview
Each module offers two types of templates to get started:
1. Minimal Template (Default)
Contains only the essential fields required to complete an import.
Ideal for quick uploads or when you're only updating basic data.
2. Full Template
Includes every possible field available for import, including optional and advanced fields.
Useful for complex imports or when migrating large datasets.
? Tip: Start with the Minimal Template. You can always copy and paste columns from the Full Template into it as needed. This keeps your process streamlined and easier to manage.
Column Mapping
When you upload your completed spreadsheet, Sync will guide you through a Column Mapping step. Here’s what you can do:
Match your spreadsheet’s column headers to Sync’s internal fields—even if your headers are slightly different (e.g., typos or naming variations).
Map custom fields specific to your configuration.
Set default values for any field. This is especially handy if you left certain cells blank and want to apply the same value across those rows (e.g., setting "Active" to "Yes").
Data Validation
After mapping, Sync performs automatic data validation before anything is saved. Here’s what happens:
Rows with issues are flagged with a red ❗️ icon.
Hover over the icon to view a tooltip explaining the issue (e.g., missing required fields, invalid values).
Sync won’t allow you to proceed until all critical errors are resolved—helping ensure data accuracy and preventing downstream problems.
? Note: In some cases, you may need to return to your Excel file, make corrections, and reimport the data—especially for modules like Job Products in Sales Orders, where updates must be made directly via spreadsheet.
✅ Best Practices
Always download a fresh Minimal or Full template from the module you’re working in to ensure compatibility.
Clean your data before uploading—remove hidden characters, check for consistent formatting (dates, currency, etc.).
Use Save As to create backups of your import sheets before making edits.
If you're unsure what a field does, check the Full Template’s column headers or reach out to your Sync representative for guidance.
